Read Aloud, Markdown and the Secret Folder
New
- Read Aloud: choose a voice and speed, and OnlyText reads your book aloud while highlighting the current word. It keeps going with the screen off, with controls on the Lock Screen and in Control Center.
- Auto Reading: Auto Page Turn, Word Highlight and One Word at a Time, from the reader menu. Drag the bar anywhere or tuck it into the edge.
- Two-Page Spread: on iPad or in landscape, read two pages side by side.
- Markdown: tables, syntax-highlighted code and Mermaid diagrams.
- Secret Folder and locked books: hide books in a folder that opens with Face ID or your passcode, or lock a single book.
- Keyboard, Remote & Gamepad: assign Bluetooth buttons to next page, previous page or the menu.
- Highlight notes and export: add notes to saved passages and export them as Markdown or CSV (Readwise).
- Library search: search the full text of every book, plus bookmarks and notes.
- Book info: ratings, reviews, tags and collections; browse by author, publisher, year and more. Move or delete several books at once.
- WebDAV: import books and folders from a NAS, Nextcloud or any WebDAV server.
- TXT cleanup: lines broken to fit an old screen width are joined back into paragraphs (Fix Line Breaks), and lines like “Chapter 1” or “제1화” become a table of contents (Detect Chapters). Both are on by default; change them in Settings › Text File Cleanup, or for one book in the reader.
- Read Aloud skips symbols such as *, =, -, _ and #. You can change the list in its settings.
Improved
- Tap to turn pages in PDFs, and a smaller bottom margin.

Search, and adding books from a computer
New
- Search inside books: tap the magnifying glass in the reading menu to find a word anywhere in the book, then tap a result to jump to that page with the word highlighted. Works in original PDFs too.
- Search the library by title, author or file name.
- OnlyText now has its own folder in the Files app (On My iPhone › OnlyText). Books you add from a computer with Finder on a Mac or the Apple Devices app on Windows show up in the library right away, even while the app is open.
Improved
- On iPhone models with a notch, such as iPhone 12 mini, the time and battery on the reading screen are no longer cut off by the notch.

Saved passages and iCloud sync
New
- Saved passages: touch and hold text to select the paragraph, adjust it by dragging or with the handles, then save it to your bookmarks or copy it. Saved passages are highlighted on the page and appear in your bookmarks and on Apple Watch.
- iCloud sync: reading positions and bookmarks sync between iPhone and iPad signed in to the same Apple Account. If you read further on another device, OnlyText offers to take you there. Sync is on by default; turn it off in Settings.
Improved
- Page bookmarks now show as set even when another device or text size breaks the pages differently.

More book formats and an Apple Watch remote
New
- More formats: read MOBI and AZW3 (Kindle books without DRM), FB2, DOCX, ODT, RTF and HTML, with their table of contents, title and author.
- PDF: view the original, or read it as text with your own font and size using reflow or text recognition (OCR).
- Apple Watch remote: turn pages on your iPhone by tapping your watch, using Double Tap (Series 9, Ultra 2 and later) or turning the Digital Crown. Double Tap works only with your wrist raised and the screen on; with your wrist resting, use the crown or tap the screen. Choose page-turn vibration, how many crown clicks turn one page (4 by default) and crown sensitivity.
- Continue reading: the three most recent books on the first screen, plus a Reading History you can clear.
- Display settings: pick any font installed on your device, use the Settings app font, choose line breaking, and show the time and battery at the top.
- On the last page, open the next book in the same folder (or the previous one from the first page).
- Shortcuts: “Next Page” and “Previous Page” actions you can assign to iOS Back Tap and more.
- Labs: tap the back of your iPhone to turn pages (adjustable strength; double tap for previous is optional).
Improved
- Folder import: progress with cancel, a fix for folders on real devices, and guidance for network drives.
- Files from Google Drive and other cloud apps that aren’t on the device yet are downloaded first, with clear guidance if that fails.
- Coco now sits next to the library title.
- Redeem promo codes.
- Removed the experimental Camera Control page turning.
